November 29, 1999 - Press Release:
9 Palestinian Academics Detained by Palestinian Authority in Regards to Petition Distributed on 27 November 1999
On the morning of 28 November 1999 and continuing through 29 November 1999, 9 Palestinian academics in Nablus and Ramallah were detained by the Palestinian Authority in regards to a petition signed by 20 individuals, including 9 Palestinian academics, 9 members of the Palestinian Legislative council, and two previously elected mayors of Nablus and Anabta. The petition was critical of the activities and the corruption of the Palestinian Authority after the Oslo Agreements.

Addameer Prisoners Support and Human Rights Association calls on all to participate in the International Campaign to Close Al-Khiam Military Prison. Press Release - February 25, 1999
Addameer Association submitted an appeal to the Israeli High Court of Justice against the Israeli Defense Minister and the apparatus of the general intelligence, known as the Shabak. The appeal was presented to the High Court by Addameer lawyer Sahar Francis on 2421999. The appeal concerned the prevention of lawyer visits and the use of torture against detainee, Ziad Hamed, who is currently detained at the Russian compound or Masqubiah interrogation center.

Press Release - February 26, 1999
Palestinian Authority officer Abu-Mustafee was executed by firing squad Friday, February 25th in the morning at 2:00 am after being found guilty of molesting a 6-year old child, Abu-Shamaleh, from the Khan Yunis refugee camp. The death penalty had been imposed by a military court on Thursday 25 February, 1999 at 11:30pm.

Press Release - March 01, 1999
On 28 February, 1999 during a visit by Addameer organization to Beersabah prison, lawyer Sahar Francis reported that the rooms of prisoners were subjected to arbitrary searches. At 8am, a large number of police entered the rooms of the prisoners Mukhlas Barghal and Mohammed Dukhan without notification. The prisoner Sultan Al-Juli was handcuffed while he slept and dragged outside his room. All the prisoners in the room were handcuffed and the room was thoroughly searched. Everything in the room was broken and all the belongings were taken out of the room into the corridor. Then, the whole division was searched room by room. The prisoners were ordered to take off their clothes for a body search which they refused. A lot of material was confiscated and the prisoners were unable to record their missing belongings because they were not permitted in the room during the search.

Press Release - March 04, 1999
On Thursday, 4 March, the Israeli intelligence apparatus renewed the administrative detention order for Ussama Barhum for the twelfth consecutive time. Barhum is the longest serving Palestinian administrative detainee in Israeli prisons. He was arrested on the 17 September 1994 and a military appeal court has rejected his application for release twice in the last year. Last year his administrative order was reduced from 6 months to 3 months but a few days before this period ended his administrative detention order was renewed for another 6 months. Such an incident proves that the Israeli judicial apparatus is not independent from interference by the Israeli security apparatus.

Press Release - October 16, 1999
On 15 October 1999, 151 Palestinian and Arab Prisoners were released from Israeli Occupation prisons following an agreement between the Palestinian Authority and Israeli Authorities according to Sharm Esheikh memorandum signed between the two sides on Sep. 5th 1999. Another 199 Palestinian prisoners were released mid September out of 2000 Palestinian prisoners still in Israeli prisons.
